Dessert Tray - Hilton Cafe

Here are some of the desserts they tried to entice us with.  We gave them a good look, but we were all to stuffed to eat anything else.

They were beautiful, so I asked the waiter to hold up one of the trays so I could take a pic!! ;-))

French Onion Soup - Hilton Cafe

French onion soup is SO yummy!! I fell in love with it the very fist time I tasted it YEARS ago!!

Some people like onions and others don't.  Having said that, I'm sure my youngest daughter wouldn't find this a tasty soup because she hates onions as much as she hates mushrooms!

I really don't know where she gets that from, as I love both!!

If you are an onion lover, this soup is definitely for you!!

Italian Sausage Stuffed Trout - Hilton Cafe

This was my sister's dinner at the Hilton.  It looked really tasty, so I asked if I could take a pic of it.  I'm sure everyone around me knows that I will most likely take a pic of your food if you're anywhere near me!! lol

I took another shot, but this was was the best.  It was served with polenta and veggies.

It looks awesome!!

Chicken Saltimbocca - Hilton Cafe

This was my daughter's dinner. I can't recall ever eating Chicken Saltimbocca, but I wasn't sure what I was looking at!  I thought the chicken was under-cooked, because I saw pink!! Turns out the pink is the thin layer of Prosciutto on top of the chicken!! haha

It was served over pasta with veggies on the side.  She let me taste it, and I thought it was very good.  Actually, all the dishes we had at the Hilton were very good!! :-))

Chilean Sea Bass - Hilton Cafe

If you have never had the opportunity to try Chilean sea bass, you must give it a try if it's available where you live!

It is light and flaky, and full of flavor!! I've had the BBQ'd version before and it was awesome!! This was very tasty as well, and it was served over a thin layer of mashed potatoes and veggies!!

I would definitely order this dish again!!! :-))

Sauteed Calamari with White Beans - Hilton Cafe

I don't know about you, but every time I've eaten calamari, it's been flash fried. Because of that, I wasn't sure what to expect.

This was an absolutely delightful dish!! The calamari was done right, no chewiness to them at all!! The tomato based dipping sauce complimented the dish very well.  Overall, it was an excellent dish!!

Tapas - Hilton Cafe

Hi everyone!!! First, I'd like to thank all of you who stuck around while I was away on family business!! I really appreciate you all!! :-))

In the pic below are sun dried tomatoes, olive oil, olive & caper mix and bread.

I was a little reluctant to taste the sun dried tomatoes, because they tend to be a little chewy.  I was pleasantly surprised that these were not!! They were very tender and had an awesome taste, as did everything else you see here.

Yummy!!!!

Mini Chocolate Eclair Pie

I was in the Walmart Supercenter, and decided to check to see if they still had the little mini pies for 88 cents.  They still had them, so I decided to try to mini chocolate eclair pie.

Just look how creamy and dreamy it is in this pic!! The thing I liked most about this pie is that it wasn't super sweet, just like the last one I had. The crust was even done right! It was absolutely perfect!! 

Loved the fact that it tasted good, and it was small so I didn't feel guilty about eating it! lol  :-))

Spicy Italian Sub - Subway

Sometimes a sandwich can hit the spot!! This was the case with this Spicy Italian sub from Subway. I literally asked them to put all the veggies on it. I spiced it up as well, with spicy mustard, chipotle sauce, pepperjack cheese, jalapenos and wax peppers!!

The cool veggies worked so well with the spice and the wheat bread. It was delicious!!!

We both love Sriracha, so when I saw this pic, I KNEW it had to be good!! :-))

Tuna Melt - Mels

I've come to realize that my daughter likes to tease me!! This was the sandwich she had for lunch today!!

OMG!!! I want one!!!! 

It might be a while before I get one, because I don't live anywhere near a Mels!! I just might have to take a road trip! ;-))

Cookies - Pepperidge Farm

Gingerman or Chessmen?? Which is your favorite?? I'm kind of a chessmen kind of girl, so much so, I don't buy them often because I would probably eat the whole bag!! lol

Red Beans & Rice with Sausage - Zatarain's

As far back as I can remember, I've always liked Zatarain's products.  I spotted this dish in the frozen food aisle of the supermarket.

I couldn't resist, so I picked up a package of their red beans & rice with sausage because it sounded promising!!

I was RIGHT!!! This dish was just as good, if not better than some of their other dishes that I've tried.

You should really go out and pick up a package to see what you think!  I think you'll like it a lot!!

Apple & Cottage Cheese

Sometimes the simplest thing can be the best tasting thing!! I don't know about you, but when I snack, I don't always want something that is heavy in oils and fat.  I'd rather have something light and tasty.

Don't get me wrong, I'm just like the next person and from time to time, I do indulge in things that I shouldn't. haha

This was a really juicy sweet apple that I paired with some plain cottage cheese. It worked well together!! :-))

Cupcakes

While I was in the store, I spotted these pretty cupcakes!! No, I didn't buy them, I just thought they were pretty and took a pic.

My daughter probably thinks I do things like taking pics in the store to embarrass her, but honestly I don't!! ;-))

If you've never tasted one, I would suggest you find a bakery or recipe and taste one as soon as possible, because they are scrumptious!!

Ohh la la!!! I have never heard of a double cheeseburger dip, but it sounds AWESOME!!  This sounds like one of those MUST try dishes.

I think I'll be getting the recipe from her soon!! I may substitute the "burger" part with turkey though. :-))

Calzone - Extreme Pizza

This is what my other daughter had for lunch.  True to form, she didn't eat all of it and wound up bringing the rest home.

I of course had to sample it so that I could blog about it, right?? Okay, I've blogged about stuff that I haven't tasted, that was just my excuse to taste it!! lol

This calzone with stuffed with ricotta cheese, mozzarella, artichokes, black olives, pizza sauce, and sauteed onions!

She needs to bring another one of these home, just so I can be sure I liked it!! :-))

Chicken & Cranberry Salad - Long John Silvers

Can you sense a theme here?? Yes, I was still in the fried food mode.  I convinced myself if the fried item was on a salad, it was healthier (insert laugh here).

This is Long John Silvers' Chicken & Cranberry salad, HOWEVER, I didn't realize that they didn't put any cranberries in the salad until I was at home, which was a little bit of a distance from the restaurant!  I hate when I pay for something and don't get it!! Don't you??

Anyway, having said that, it was a pretty good salad without the cranberries.  I got a raspberry vinaigrette with it to feel better about all the fried stuff!! ;-))

Fried Shrimp - Long John Silvers

I TRY not to eat a lot of fried food, but every now and then, I give in to the "wild side." haha

While I was out with my daughter, I decided I wanted something from Long John Silvers.  I REALLY wanted the battered/fried fish...UNTIL I saw the calorie count on the order screen!!!

OMG!!! That made up my mind for me!! BUT, I still wanted something fried, just not all of those calories.  I got the 3 piece shrimp as a side to my salad.

I only had 3 pieces, but I think it was worth every bite!!! Delicious!!!

Shrimp Po Boy - Popeyes

This is one of my daughter's all time favorites!! If we are on the go, and I ask her what she wants to eat, nine times out of ten she will say a shrimp po boy from Popeyes!!

I must admit, they are really good!! If you have a Popeyes near you, and haven't tried the shrimp po boy, or the fish po boy, you are missing out!!

I haven't been to Louisiana, but I'd imagine THIS is how they would taste if I bought one there.

Banana Milkshake - Sonic

Sonic does their drink selections well!! Their fruit ice cream shakes aren't just fruit flavored.  They have real pieces of fruit in them, like this banana shake. 

My favorite shakes are the banana and the pineapple.  I don't buy shakes often, but if I do, I get them from Sonic, because they know how to make a quality milkshake!

Just look at that beautiful shake!! Even the whip cream on top is beautiful!! :-))

Seared Tuna, Calamari & Veggies - Tomi

We all had such a good time.  Good food and good company, what more could you want!!

This was lunch today at Tomi's, one of our favorite places to go!! They have so many choices!! On my plate in the pic below is shrimp tempura, veggie tempura and dim sum!!

I wish I could put into words how good this was!! Tomi NEVER disappoints!! Yummy!!

Fish Burrito - Adalberto's

I totally forgot that my daughter told me that she was bringing her burrito home, and that I could taste some of it.  While I was out and about, I stopped by one of my favorite places and ordered their fish burrito and one other item.

I told you we were on the same wave length today!!

Very good and tasty as usual, but I couldn't eat it.  I ate something else prior to this and my stomach literally couldn't hold it.  :-))

Wet Carne Asada Burrito - El Tapatio

My daughter and I were on the same wave length today!! This is a pic of her burrito that she had for lunch.  She ate about 1/4 of it and brought the rest home.

I got to taste a tiny bite of it, and it was really good!! I love Mex food anyway, so it didn't take much convincing for me to give it a try.

Low Carb Protein Bars - Quest

A co-worker and I were talking, and he mentioned these Quest bars.  I told him that I'd never tried them before.

He was kind enough to give me three to try.  They are really tasty, and low in carb, plus they have protein!

I would say it's a win, win, win situation!!

Birthday Cake - By Marina

So it turns out my son's fiance is coming into the right family!! There are various talents in my family, and Marina seems to fit right in with that.

Here is the Birthday cake she baked and decorated for my little grandson.  He just turned 2!!! She did an OUTSTANDING job with this cake, don't you agree?

It looks like it was store bought!!! Not only did it look good, but it tasted great too!!

Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies - By Rashida & Tommy

Rashida and Tommy attended a party recently, and one of the appetizers that they came home raving about were these little smokies.

I had my doubts, but they made them according to the directions the party host gave them, and they came out VERY tasty.

After the little smokies are wrapped in the bacon, they are topped with brown sugar and baked.  I don't know the baking time, because I was to busy eating to ask.

Great appetizer, especially for the bacon lovers in your life!!

Fried Mashed Potato Patties

This is a dish my  mom used to make when I was a kid growing up.  It's not only delicious, but a very good way to use left-overs and make it seem like a whole new dish!!

I've always struggled to perfect them, but today I think I came as close as I have ever come.  After I had them in the pan frying, I decided to check on-line to see if there was a recipe for them.  Duh!! Of course there was!! lol

I then realized what I had been doing wrong all these years!! You need to dredge them in flour after forming the patties!!  I've never dredged them, just took the cold mashed potatoes out of the fridge, formed the patties and dropped them in the oil.  No wonder they weren't coming out just right.

They always tasted good, I just couldn't get that nice crisp outside going.  Even though it was too late to do it this time around, they seemed to come out better than usual.

If you've never had them, you should give it a try!! Remember, the key is cold mashed potatoes, and a quick dredging in flour before you put them in the frying pan. :-))

This has to be my son's all time favorite cake.  He has loved the Oreo cookie cake since he was a little bitty boy.

I'll admit, the cake is delicious!! I spotted this beautiful cake in the store and had to share a pic of it with you guys.

Tempura Chicken with Spicy Asian Style BBQ Sauce

This stuff is SO good!! No, I didn't make it, it was store bought but that didn't matter, it is very delicious.

I served it with sticky rice, and it hit the spot for dinner!!

Egg Nog

It's getting to be that time of year again, you can always tell by how much egg nog you will see in the grocery store. 

I do love the taste of egg nog, but it's so super thick, and since I don't drink it with alcohol, it can be a bit much!!

My daughter on the other hand LOVES the stuff.  She can't wait until she can buy endless amounts of it, and yes, you guess it!! This is her egg nog! :-)

Crescent Sandwich - Diamond Cafe

I decided to think outside of my usual "box" for breakfast, and ordered this breakfast sandwich.  It's a nicely toasted crescent, with ham, provolone and the fluffiest egg whites I've eaten in a while.

Just looking at this pic makes me want to eat another one.  The short order cook new what he was doing.  Oh my GOODNESS, it was absolutely tasty until the last bite!!
